EXPLORING THE YOUTH ECONOMY Phase 1 - Discovery Insights Report

Today young people are experiencing a deepening economic crisis that is risking baking long term inequality in to their futures.

The Southern Initiative (TSI) has been working to create economic opportunities for young people in South and West Auckland through its shared prosperity agenda and Youth Connections work. Its newly formed Youth Economy Team is seeking to consolidate existing practice and explore more broadly what is meant by the youth economy. This is to help it understand how it might inform the team’s future strategy and support wider system change.

This is the first report of a discovery phase which presents a high level exploration of the concept of the youth economy. Its intent is to surface insights that broaden perspectives and identify threads that might warrant further consideration.
